Paolo Iashvili (1894-1937) was one of the innovators of Georgian poems and a reformer of new poem, co-founder of the Georgian Symbolist Poets movement “Blue Horns”. Paolo Iashvili was a broad-minded person. He participated in every new initiative. He was actively involved in literary life. The poet was noted for his great knowledge of painting. Therefore, he made a significant contribution to the struggle for the revival of Georgian theater. Unfortunately, Paolo was repressed by the Soviet regime at a young age. He was persecuted by the regime for a long time. During the great repressions in 1937, Paolo Iashvili shot himself dead in the Writers’ Union office. He took one step ahead of the fateful verdict, by which they had to shoot him for being the “enemy” of people. Paolo Iashvili’s suicide was one of the most courageous protests in the evil empire. House-Museum of Paolo Iashvili keeps the poet’s personal belongings, furniture, and more.
