On the top of the mountain, hidden in the forest, there is an old, small, historically interesting monastery. For centuries, the church of the monastery belonged to the local Lortkipanidze noble family. It was surrounded by a large wall, which had defensive significance and was protected by 7 towers. Only a small fragment of the entire painting of the church has been preserved – which probably dates from the 15th century. The monks are engaged in agriculture, take care of the bees and make honey, which can be bought on the spot.
Note: You will need a jeep to reach the monastery. The road from the center of Khoni is unpaved and it is 14 km away and 42 km from Kutaisi.
