The Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul is located 900 meters from the royal district of Kutaisi. The idea of building the church belonged to the local population, and it was built in 1882-1903 by Greek masters, using clear stone from Eklar. By the historical circumstances of that time, the church was built using elements of Russian style and classicism. Unfortunately, after the Sovietization of Georgia, the church was closed by the Bolsheviks, and the Kutaisi Communist Club was placed in it, and some of the church items were transferred to the museum. Church services in the cathedral were resumed in 1944 and have been going on continuously since then.
