Although the main ingredient of Tkemali sauce is Ombalo - penny-royal. Together with coriander and garlic, penny-royal gives the sauce an unusual, pleasant taste. Bazhe _ it is liquid paste made of pounded Greek walnut, garlic, and walnut oil. Bazhe is served separately or sometimes with roasted chicken or fish inserted in the sauce.
